The Blue Mile – Race for the Environment
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who took on the challenge of The Blue Mile – Race for the Environment on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July in aid of WWF.
We were delighted to be the official charity partner of The Blue Mile, the UK’s newest mass-participation event, designed to encourage people of all ages to complete a mile in or next to our wonderful marine environment.
Over 8,000 people watched as 650 participants took to the sea in historic Plymouth, to swim, stand up paddleboard or kayak to show their support for our marine environment.
Conrad Humphreys, organiser of the Blue Mile said “I was delighted at the public response to the first ever Blue Mile, an event designed to fuse sport with a public engagement programme focused on our blue environment. There were so many elements to the weekend that made me smile. This was not just an event for elite athletes; we had people from all walks of life who took on the challenge of completing a mile and raising valuable support for WWF-UK to continue their work for healthy seas.”
