Get a flavour of the vital environmental issues WWF is working on in this three-minute film.
We live in an interconnected world. Human activities in one location can and do have an impact across the planet.
Deforestation in South America, Africa or Asia is destroying vast, irreplaceable swathes of virgin rainforests, along with the complex ecosystems and unique wildlife that live there. Unchecked illegal logging and forest conversion is helping to drive this global catastrophe. Deforestation uproots human communities, destroys local food systems, and is a major contributor to global events such as climate change.
The root cause of all this is the unsustainable way we’re using natural resources. WWF is creating solutions to the most serious environmental problems facing the planet, helping people and nature to thrive. It’s something everyone can be involved with, in their everyday lives.
For example, you can help protect what remains of the rainforests by only using timber from well-managed forests. Look for the FSC logo on any wood-based products – this symbol of the Forest Stewardship Council, which was initiated by WWF, reassures consumers and businesses of a traceable link back to a sustainable source.
